Project progress: February 2024

We are speeding through the year and continuing through the planned stages of building development. As the final snagging of the brickwork is completed, the scaffolding is taken down, and we continue through the cladding and window fitting, those watching from the outside will now finally start to see the exterior appearing.

In February we also welcomed a crane back onsite to support the lifting of an air handling unit onto the roof of the building, which is now fully installed and will ensure there is an efficient system for clean air circulation once the building is fully operational later this year.

Inside the building has been a hive of activity as trades people work to ensure we have electrical systems safely installed for every ward and office area, floor screeding continues and we prepare for plastering to start on the internal walls.

The door frames to the internal courtyard have been installed, ductwork installation has begun to create a system for airflow from the air handling unit and the Building Energy Management System team has been on site, installing a network of software that can monitor and control the energy usage in the building to ensure it operates at its most energy efficient state.

We are continuing to welcome staff to visit the site on Friday afternoons, allowing them to see the new wards in development and hear about the plans as they develop. Recently, Facilities Management Assistant Fay Stavrogiannopoulou joined a tour, along with her colleagues, and said: “Mark is an inspiring person. He answered any questions we had and made everything easy to understand. The team loved him! Everybody was amazed with all details that Mark shared with us and all the thinking that goes before making any decisions. We are all eager to start working in the building!”

If you are interested in booking a staff site tour, you can join us on Fridays at 12.45pm. We join a short safety briefing with Brymor colleagues before taking a full tour of the rehabilitation building, and all PPE is provided. To see what you can expect on a tour, you can watch our video here.
